Quality Guarantee + 1-Year Warranty

All Coastal Cowhides products come with a 1-year warranty, subject to appraisal of the item. We stand behind the quality of our products, If you believe your item is defective, please contact us within 10 days of purchasing or receiving it, and we’ll gladly arrange a replacement or solution.

Please note: Scratches, brandings, and occasional patches are natural characteristics of cowhide and are not considered defects. We recommend inspecting your item immediately upon purchase or delivery, as claims made after 10 days cannot be processed.

All sale items are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.

Cowhide Handbag Warranty Policy

We take great care in sourcing and crafting our cowhide handbags using premium natural materials. Because cowhide is a natural product, every piece is unique and will wear differently depending on how it is used and cared for.

Manufacturing Warranty – 12 Months

We offer a 12-month warranty from the date of purchase covering manufacturing faults, including:

  • Stitching defects

  • Hardware failure (zips, clasps, rivets, buckles)

  • Lining or structural defects

  • Leather splitting due to faulty tanning or construction

This warranty does not cover general wear and tear, accidental damage, misuse, or damage caused by excessive weight, moisture, sun exposure, or friction.


Cowhide Fur Warranty – 3 Months

Cowhide fur is a natural hair-on-hide product. While it is durable, it will wear over time especially when used daily.

We offer a 3-month warranty on the cowhide fur for manufacturing or tanning faults only, such as:

  • Unusual or excessive hair loss in low-friction areas

  • Patchy shedding not related to use

  • Balding caused by a fault in the hide itself

After this period, hair wear is considered normal and expected, particularly in high-contact areas.


What is Not Covered

The following are considered normal characteristics of cowhide and daily use:

  • Hair wear or thinning on corners, edges, and base

  • Fur loss from friction against clothing or surfaces

  • Flattening or smoothing of hair

  • Colour softening due to sun exposure, oils, or handling

  • Natural variations in colour, markings, and texture

Because we have no control over how a bag is used, stored, or handled on a daily basis, these changes are not considered faults.


Our Commitment

We always assess warranty claims fairly and with care. If you believe your item has a genuine manufacturing fault, please contact us with photos and proof of purchase.


Exchanges

If you'd like to exchange an item, please contact us within 10 working days of receiving or purchasing your order. Exchanges must be authorised by Fiona via phone (021 498 456) or email (info@coastalcowhides.co.nz). Items must be returned in their original condition and packaging.

Customers are responsible for all freight and return shipping costs. We strongly recommend using tracked or couriered services to ensure safe return.

Refunds

We do not offer refunds for change of mind, so please choose carefully. However, if there is a genuine issue with your purchase, we are happy to discuss it. If the item is faulty, we will meet our obligations under the Consumer Guarantees Act.


International Shipping

We currently ship most items to Australia, Canada, China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, UAE, Kores, Europe, Scandinavia and Mexico and are actively working to expand our international shipping options. Please check back regularly as we add more countries. Please note we do not ship to the USA or the UK due to the import duties that make it cost prohibitive for the customer. But we do ship to Mexico and Ireland.
